Fosdem - Day 0
March 2, 2005 | Filed Under Travel |After lots of confusion - who would have thought, that Bonn has two different parking garages at the train station- we headed off to Bruxelles at around 7pm. The drive to Bruxelles was quite comfortable and the beer made the background noise bearable. We arrived in Bruxelles at around 10pm and I think it is one of the most confusing cities in regards to traffic directions - because there are hardly any. Scotties one page map of Bruxelles did not help either and for the first time I really wished, that I had a gps device.
We kicked Thorsten out in the middle of Bruxelles, confident that with his social skills he would be able to find his way. After thirty minutes and helpful directions from a local we found the youth hostel and even a parking space. I had already confirmed our booking in the morning, so we got the 3 bed room. Food was quite good - no one left hungry - and prices were around average.
We headed back to the bar of the youth hostel, had a big stella and relaxed for a while, before we returned to our room. However, I was not really tired and Scotty suggested to watch a movie. Needless to say, that while Scotty and I were able to establish a link without a problem, Waldemar had to go through a lengthy process with his laptop and OpenBSD. It took around half an hour till we got it running, but in the end it worked quite well. The movie went a bit longer, than I had thought, so we went to bed rather late at round 4am for a short nap.
Herr Lehmann rocks!
